Terms of Service

1. This agreement

These Terms of Service form a contract between you and The Registry and govern your use of our website, applications, and services. By applying for entry, creating an account, or otherwise using the service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract. One person, one account. Accounts are personal and may not be shared, sold, or transferred.

2. Admission and invitations

Entry is by application or by a single-use invitation code issued by a standing member. Applications are reviewed by hand and admission is at our discretion. Submitting an application does not guarantee a place.

Invitation codes are personal, single-use, and may not be sold, auctioned, or transferred for value.

3. Your entry and content

You are responsible for the accuracy of everything in your entry, including your record, function, and stated purpose. You agree not to misrepresent your identity, employment, credentials, or affiliations.

You keep ownership of the content you submit. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, and display that content solely to operate and improve the service, consistent with the visibility rules described in the Privacy Policy.

4. Introductions and contact

Contact on The Registry is double opt-in. A request travels to a mutual connection who chooses whether to sponsor it, and a channel opens only if the recipient also consents.

You agree not to use introductions for mass outreach, unsolicited sales sequences, recruitment spam, chain solicitations, or any purpose other than the one you stated in your request.

5. Acceptable use

Do not use the service to harass, defame, threaten, or discriminate against anyone.

Do not scrape, crawl, copy, or extract member information, or attempt to build a directory or dataset from the register.

Do not share, republish, or export another member's details outside the service without their permission.

Do not upload malware, attempt to breach security or access controls, probe our systems, or interfere with the service.

Do not post unlawful content or content that infringes the rights of others.

Do not create fake accounts, use automation to interact with the service, or circumvent invitation limits.

6. Fees

The register is currently free to join and use. If we introduce paid features we will describe the price and terms before you buy, and paid features will be optional additions rather than a condition of holding an entry.

7. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity that occurs under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without authorisation.

8. Ending your use

You may close your account at any time from your account settings or by contacting us; we will remove your entry from the register.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, misrepresents identity or credentials, or puts other members at risk. Where circumstances allow, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond.

9. Intellectual property

The service, including its software, design, text, and marks, belongs to The Registry or its licensors. These terms do not grant you any right to use our name, logo, or branding without written permission.

10. Third-party services

The service may link to or rely on third-party services. We are not responsible for third-party content or practices, and your use of those services is governed by their own terms.

11. Disclaimers

The service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not guarantee that an application will be accepted, that an introduction will be sponsored or accepted, or that any professional, hiring, or commercial outcome will result from using the service.

We verify records in good faith but we are not a background-check provider, and you remain responsible for your own diligence before entering any relationship or transaction with another member.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Registry and its officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities, arising from your use of the service.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or one hundred US dollars.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold The Registry harmless from claims, losses, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your content, your use of the service, or your breach of these terms.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You and The Registry agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in New York County, New York, unless applicable law in your place of residence requires otherwise.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If changes are material we will give notice through the service or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the updated terms.
