The Registry — Legal

Privacy Policy

Last revised: August 2026

The short version: we collect what we need to run an invite-only register, we never publish your application, we never sell your information, and nothing about you becomes visible outside your own network without your consent.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how The Registry (“The Registry”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you visit our website, apply for entry, or hold an account on the register. It applies to all of our services.

By using the service you agree to the handling described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. Information you provide

Application details. When you apply for entry you provide your first and last name, email address, phone number, occupation or title, company, location, and a short statement of what you want an introduction for. Candidates may also state the role they are seeking and whether they are interested in a paid candidacy option.

Account and entry details. If you are admitted, you create an account and write your own register entry: function, base, professional record, domains, and what you are currently open to. You decide what appears in your entry.

Introductions. When you request or sponsor an introduction, we store the request, the stated purpose, and the decisions made by the sponsor and the recipient.

Correspondence. Messages you send us, including support and admissions correspondence.

3. Information collected automatically

Usage and device data such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, browser and device type, and referring pages. We use essential cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, to remember preferences, and to measure aggregate usage. We do not run third-party advertising trackers.

4. How we use information

To operate the register, verify identity and professional records, and decide admissions.

To route introduction requests to sponsors and recipients under our double opt-in process.

To communicate with you about your application, your account, invitations, and service changes.

To keep the service secure: detect abuse, spam, and fraud, and enforce our Terms of Service.

To improve the service using aggregate and de-identified analytics.

To comply with legal obligations.

5. What other people see

Nothing you write on an application is published. Applications stay in the admissions file.

If you are admitted, your entry is visible only inside your network: the members you are connected to, and members reachable through a shared connection. There is no public directory and no global member list.

Contact details are not exposed by default. A channel opens only when a mutual connection sponsors an introduction and the other party consents.

6. How we share information

Service providers. Hosting, database, email delivery, authentication, and analytics vendors that process data on our instructions.

Legal and safety. When required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of The Registry, our members, or the public.

Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

7. Your choices and rights

You may access, correct, or delete your entry at any time from your account, and you may close your account by contacting us.

You may withdraw an application and ask us to delete the associated record.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal information, and to object to certain processing. To exercise a right, contact us using the details below. We may ask you to verify your identity.

You can opt out of non-essential email at any time using the unsubscribe link. We will still send transactional messages about your account.

8. Retention

We keep application records for as long as the application is under consideration and for a reasonable period afterwards so we can revisit it in a later cycle. Account and entry data is kept while your account is open and for a limited period after closure to meet legal, security, and record-keeping needs.

9. Security

We use industry-standard technical and organisational measures, including encrypted transport, access controls, and row-level database permissions that limit each member to their own network. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International transfers

The service is operated from the United States and information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

11. Children

The service is intended for working professionals and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

12. Changes

We may update this policy. If changes are material we will notify members by email or through the service before they take effect. The date below shows when it was last revised.

13. Contact

Questions about this policy or your information can be sent to the address published on our contact page or replied directly to any message you receive from us.
